Volunteer to Mentor a NYC Teenager

September 08: NEW YORK - The Syracuse University Mentor/Mentee Alliance (SUMMA) is pleased to invite you to participate in our mentoring program this fall, dedicating a few hours each month to a New York City-based teenager who needs guidance and friendship. SUMMA, a one-to-one mentoring program, pairs SU alumni with students at the Leadership & Public Service High School in Manhattan. This program, established in 1994, provides encouragement, reinforcement, and support to high school students. The requirements are simple: Alumni should call or email their mentee at least once per week, and should spend at least four hours per month interacting with him/her in person. Interested alumni should complete the online registration form as soon as possible. We will contact selected alumni later this summer to schedule a three-hour mentoring training session, to be held at the Joseph I. Lubin House (11 East 61st Street) in September. We look forward to your participation in this exciting and worthwhile endeavor! Questions? Visit the SUMMA website or email Curt Dircks ’99.
