Coming Back Together 2020 with a Block Syracuse

Same Time Next Year: CBT Postponed until 2021

Based on the continuing widespread impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Syracuse University Office of Multicultural Advancement (SUMA) has made the difficult decision to postpone CBT 2020 until September 9-12, 2021.

“We’ve worked very hard to develop a four-day weekend celebration that honors our traditions while introducing exciting new events and programming,” says Rachel Vassel ’91, assistant vice president of multicultural advancement. “As much as we looked forward to welcoming alumni back to campus, we also didn’t want our 150th celebration diminished by lowered attendance and social distancing protocols. We look forward to a great CBT at the same time next year.”

Already registered for the 2020 reunion? You have options! Those who have already paid for their registration can choose to transfer their registration to the 2021 reunion, donate their registration fee to the Our Time Has Come Scholarship Fund, or request a refund. Registered attendees will receive an email form to complete by June 30 and may contact the Office of Multicultural Advancement at suma@syr.edu with questions.

Started in 1983, Coming Back Together (CBT) was the first reunion of its kind in the nation. Every three years, Black and Latinx alumni come back to campus to celebrate their accomplishments, meet current students, and stay involved with the University.

The theme of this year’s reunion is “Celebrating 150 Years of Black and Latinx Achievement at SU”.  Over the four-day weekend, there will be numerous workshops, receptions, social events and cultural activities.  Highlights include:  The CBT Celebrity Classic Basketball Game, The CBT Concert, The CBT Gala and Awards Ceremony, and The Sunday Worship Service.

The Multicultural Advancement Team along with its alumni and student reunion co-chairs look forward to seeing you in September for what we expect will be the best CBT ever!
