Orange Central Programming Will Focus on Your Fitness

Orange Central 2021, Oct. 28-31, is the perfect time to reconnect with classmates, make new friends and discover what’s new on campus. 

But while you’re taking a stroll down memory lane and celebrating all things Syracuse University later this fall, you don’t have to sacrifice your exercise routine. 

From in-person workouts at the beautiful Barnes Center at the Arch — the University's integrated health, wellness and recreation complex — to a virtual 5K and on-demand classes that fit your schedule, Orange Central is the perfect time to focus on fitness with your Orange family. 

Check out these activities to help you achieve your fitness goals, then view the complete weekend schedule and make your plans to come home to Syracuse University for Orange Central. 

In-person sessions


Saturday, October 30: 'Cuse Rec Sampler - Set, Sweat, Stretch


Kick-start your morning at the Barnes Center at The Arch. Enjoy a ’Cuse Fit Chat and create an individualized plan to improve your overall holistic wellness, then try out our full body strength and yoga classes. This session runs from 9-10:30 a.m., and participants should wear appropriate fitness clothing and bring their own water and towel. Cost: Free.

Sunday, October 31: Race to Remember

Honor the lives of the 35 Syracuse University study abroad students and all those who died in the 1988 Pan Am 103 terrorist attack during our Race to Remember. Wear your Orange workout gear and run, roll, or stroll with us. Proceeds will support the Remembrance Scholarship Fund. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the 3.5-mile race starts at 10 a.m.

Syracuse University Virtual 5K: Support Student Scholarships

Join our virtual 5K and run (or walk) anywhere, anytime while supporting student scholarships. Wear your best Orange and post a photo on social media using #SUVirtual5K. Help turn our map Orange and get your steps in to support Healthy Monday, a national public health initiative with the Lerner Center. Cost is $15, $10 (ages 21 and under) and includes a Syracuse University Virtual 5K medal. 

’Cuse Class: Strength (on YouTube)

This full body strength class uses resistance and light to heavy weights to help you build and you’re your muscles, increase your flexibility and boost your muscular endurance. This free “head to toe” workout is taught by staff from the Barnes Center at The Arch. 

’Cuse Class: Yoga (on YouTube)

Our complimentary yoga class includes classical yoga postures, warmups, breathing techniques and relaxation methods, and is taught by staff with the Barnes Center at The Arch.
